Dennis & Julie Sulfsted

Dennis and Julie originally met in high school. Julie was a sophomore at Reading Jr-Sr High School in Reading, Ohio. Dennis was her English teacher.

Now before you get the wrong idea, nothing happened in high school. That’s just where they first met. Dennis was already married to another woman and had a family, and as the years passed, Julie graduated from high school and eventually married and had a family of her own.

A few more years passed, when Dennis and his first wife divorced, and a little while after that is when he once again met Julie, who was at the time also divorcing her first husband.

They “met” at her brother’s house during a high school graduation party for her nephew, a former athlete who had wrestled for Dennis when he used to coach.

They dated for a time, and on June 10, 1988, the Mayor of Reading interrupted traffic court to marry them in the Mayor’s Chambers.

Years passed. Happy years. And troubling years. They raised their children into the fine men they have become today.

Eventually, they began anticipating Den’s retirement. They started looking for property, and that’s when they discovered Hickory Ridge Farm.

Here, they’ll pass many more years. They’ll entertain their grandchildren. They’ll have happy years and troubling years. But they’ll always have each other, and they’ll always have Hickory Ridge Farm.

Dennis & Julie have been married for 28 years. They both grew up in Reading, Ohio.
